Considered one of the pioneers in the promotion of quality and standardization within the sub-region, Dr. Alison S. Gajadhar, founded and operated a solar water heating company, Ecosun Inc. and a beverage manufacturing plant, SunSmart Beverages Inc., which was later purchased by a leading sub-regional company. Alison now owns and operates KMA Consulting Ltd. – a boutique consulting firm, which offers consulting services in the areas of organizational governance and management systems, quality infrastructure (conformity assessment and standardization), adaptation planning, research and policy development, and good technical regulatory practice.
James Fletcher was the Minister for Public Service, Information, Broadcasting, Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology in Saint Lucia from 2011 to 2016. During his tenure, he led an aggressive modernization of the energy sector, with a focus on the transition to renewable energy. He commissioned modern ICT centres in several under-served communities, started a program for free island-wide Wi-Fi, developed a 311 call centre for the public service, initiated major water development projects, and established an Employee Assistance Programme to provide free, confidential counselling to public officers.
